Telford ski slope has 85 metres of dendix matting coupled with some of the best coaches in the country. All race equipment is available including full-size poles stubbies and timing equipment.

At the heart of our race training programme is the coaching we provide on our home slope in Telford.

Head Coach Chris Blagden oversees the development of all of our members right from new members who have just progressed from the Telford & Wrekin Council’s own Saturday morning White Tigers sessions up to the athletes selected to join our Race Team.

Classes are held Wednesday and Friday evenings 6.30pm-8.00pm and are open to all members.

New members initially hone their general skiing skills in one of the intermediate classes and as their abilities are enhanced they then move through into race development classes.  On the first Wednesday of each month, a timings session is held and all results are recorded, posted and analysed to ensure our members are continuing their development

In addition to this Telford Ski Club also organise and run specialist race training camps at other slopes around the UK. Usually designed to coincide with particularly important races we hold 2, 3 & 4-day camps to provide our racers maximum race preparation time as and when required.

Indoor Snow Training

Based at Xscape Castleford whilst also incorporating visits to SnowWorld in Landgraaf, Telford Ski Club offers its members regular indoor snow race training sessions alongside our specialist two and three-day training camps. Coaching is with Alan Ashfield and Chris Blagdon.

With the loss of a number of plastic slopes and an ever-expanding amount of indoor ski facilities opening in the UK the long-term future of national ski racing looks likely to be based around the indoor domes. With a fixed slot in one of Britain’s best facilities, Telford Ski Club provides its racers with the very best opportunity to progress their racing careers.

The summer race calendar now boasts many indoor events and Telford Ski Club provides full race support for our racers at every one of these meetings.

Alpine  Training

Predominantly based in Alpbach, Austria Telford Ski Club also organises its own Alpine training programme, thus providing our athletes with the opportunity to continue their development under the watchful eye of one single coaching system.

Coaches Mark Vinter and Sally Bartlett organise training blocks which consist of free skiing, technical drills, pole and stubby training in slalom, GS (Giant Slalom) & Super G, all of which is supplemented with video analysis and fitness work.

It is important to note the high levels of support given to us by everyone in Alpbach, not least that from Alpbach Aktiv, who continually surprise and amaze us with their incredible levels of support, assistance & willingness to ensure our winter training programme goes as smoothly as possible.

Booking priority for our Alpine programme is given to members of Telford Ski Club.
